Bridges
Bridges, as their name suggests, attach to a stable structure either side of gap where a tooth is missing. A prosthetic tooth bridges this gap between the two structures.
A bridge can be optimal dental treatment to replace one tooth or multiple consecutive missing teeth where your healthy natural remaining teeth provide adequate structure to support your restoration.
This dental treatment requires altering the structure of the adjacent healthy teeth in order to support the bridge.
What Should I Expect at My Dental Bridge Appointment?
Your dental bridge treatment is completed over two appointments.
At your first appointment
In your first visit, your dentist will reshape the structure of your teeth to prepare the support of your bridge. An impression is taken and the shade of your teeth is discussed with you. It is important to match the colour of these teeth to your other teeth for the most natural appearance. A temporary bridge is placed during the time your impression is couriered to the laboratory for fabrication.
2nd Appointment
In your second appointment, your temporary bridge is removed and your permanent bridge is fitted.
